The program comprises of a thrice weekly plan which is very convenient. Just picture a far much healthier version of you and all you have to give in return is 21 minutes every week.

I’ve been following the 7 minute workout (7MW) for almost 2 years. Before I started I hated exercise and always give up after a few days of a new thing (my weight loss journey). 7MW encourages new people, to exercise, to get started but also helps those who love to exercise by improving their results.

My journey has been educational and 7MW is still keeping the weight off me. In total I’ve lost 22lbs of FAT and feel great.

Register now for a FREE live workout session and see the truth behind the 7-Minute Workoutreview.7minuteprogram.com

So if you want to get fit or want to improve your results here are some weight and fat loss tips I’ve learned along the way

    1. Train with challenging weights in the 8-12 rep range

Adding lean muscle (called hypertrophy) is achieved with challenging weights in the rep range of 6-12. Hypertrophy is the process of increasing the number of cells within an organ or tissue (such as muscle tissue), thereby increasing its overall size. If you train with higher reps you surpass this stage and train your muscles for endurance rather than lean muscle gain. For women muscle size stays about the same – no huge  muscles! – Women don’t have enough of the hormone testosterone. For men you’ll need to dramatically increase protein intake to build more muscle. This type of training increases the concentration of muscle fibres making you stronger. However you do look more toned as you start to lose the fat around the muscles.
    2. Train at least 3 times per week with weights
Muscle growth occurs through adaptation. You need to stress the muscles often enough to elicit the adaptation response. The muscle gets stronger, due to the stress placed upon it. Challenging weight training 3 x per week with the 7 minute workout is recommended. You can join the 7 minute workout. Starting Feb. 1 a WHOLE year’s membership is going to be ONLY £30 ($47)
    3. Eat plenty of protein

Protein is the building block of muscle tissue (among many other tissues in the body). When you are training hard you need to ensure you are getting enough protein to aid with recovery and repair of your muscle cells in order to achieve hypertrophy. Protein will also help keep you fuller for longer and it has a thermic effect on the body, meaning that it takes additional energy/calories in order to break down the protein to be digested and used. So it’s great for muscle building, recovery AND fat loss.
    4. Reduce your intake of carbohydratesYou can’t burn fat in the presence of insulin and every time you ingest sugars or carbohydrates, your body releases insulin. Yet carbohydrates are beneficial for brain fuel and your body’s preferred energy source, as well as for muscle recovery – so don’t eliminate them completely. The best time to eat carbohydrates is around your exercise times – before, and especially after, a challenging workout.
    5. When exercising allow enough time for the muscles to repair and growThis video explains why, and why many people get poor results from over exercising.

You’ve seen the adverts. They told you it was healthy. They TOLD you it’s what you’re supposed to be drinking.
“No no…put that Kool-Aid down little Jonny…drink this insteadddd.”
“Have some of this Billy…it gives you so many of the vitamins and minerals!”

Orange juice…apple juice…cranberry juice…juice juice juice!!!

Did you know…it’s all sugar. ALL OF IT.
Parents, get a clue. Adults, you too. If you’ve got Orange Juice sitting in your fridge thinking your doing anyone a favour, think again. It’s needless calories. It’s pointless sugar.

LOTS of sugar.

“But it has so much Vitamin C!”
Wow, a fat person who doesn’t have a cold. That’s who I want to be.

25 grams of sugar in an 8 oz. glass. That’s right…TWENTY FIVE.
And you know you probably drink more than 8 ounces…

DOUBLE IT.

How bout fibre?
Zero fibre.

Oh wait…double it for a regular-sized glass that people actually drink from…
ZERO again.

You know what has a full day’s worth of Vitamin C?
That’s right…an orange!
It also has 4 grams of fibre and a quarter of the sugar.

Eat fruit.  Drink water.

“But what about ‘All-Natural’ juice?”
I said drink something else, like water.

In fact, drinking anything that has calories (with the possible exception of a protein shake) is bad if you are wanting to control you weight or calorie intake.
Instead, get your calories from filling, wholesome, nutrient rich food… rather than empty beverages.

You’ll be less hungry.

You’ll consume fewer calories.

Embrace water. Flavoured waters even. Get all crazy and float a lime!

Just try it…try drinking zero calories at all this week.
You’ll probably drop a couple pounds.

Repeat next week.

Write to thank me later

As any dieter knows, there are moments when you are so hungry you could gnaw off your own arm.

Now it seems that the brain feels the same way. When starved of food, brain cells actually eat each other. This cannibalism ramps up appetite and so could help explain why so many diets are doomed to failure.

One in four Britons is thought to be trying to lose weight at any one time. While they may be initially successful, more than two-thirds will pile the pounds straight back on. One explanation could come from the work of American researchers who studied a phenomenon called autophagy, in which cells ‘tidy’ their interiors by eating debris that accumulates over time. In experiments on cells in the lab and on mice, the team from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York showed that lack of food triggers autophagy in brain cells key to appetite control.

This causes the release of fats, which in turn results in higher levels of a powerful brain chemical that stimulates appetite, the journal Cell Metabolism reports.

It is thought the whole process is kick-started by hunger, with  the emergency breaking down of fat stores signalling to the  brain that there is a shortage of food and making it eat its own cells. This is bad news for dieters, because going without food could make them hungrier than ever.

Researcher Dr Rajat Singh  said that drugs that interfere with this process could help treat obesity, by making people ‘less hungry and burn more fat’. The findings may also help explain why appetite tends to wane with age, as cells in the ageing body are less good at autophagy.

3 minute Cardio?

23 May
2012
by

So we all lovers of the 7 minute workout. Now roll out the 7 Mminute Cardio workout, or even just 1 minute 3 times per week.

Studies over the last few years have confirmed that many people can benefit from High Intensity Training (HIT) of just 1 minute 3 x per week. It’s easy to be sceptical about this but we at 7 Minute Workout (7MW) know it to be true already!

The recent BBC TV programme showed the science and the results from the HIT cardio workout. It also confirmed why our 7MW works too.

The science simplified – with the normal exercises; walking, jogging or a relaxing hour at the GYM we only activate about 20-30% of our muscle tissue. With 7MW and HIT cardio we are activating 70-80% of our muscle tissue. Getting to muscle failure is the key.

Benefits

  • Your muscles will be burning calories long after you finish exercising
  • Reduce the level of fat in the blood
  • Activating 70-80% muscle tissue breaks down glycogen stores signalling your body to take up more glucose in the blood, helping balance your blood sugar levels
  • Maximise your aerobic capacity.

So what do you do?

Full throttle

It’s actually very simple. You get on an exercise bike

  1. Warm up by doing gentle cycling for a couple of minutes
  2. Then go flat out for 20 seconds
  3. A couple of minutes to catch your breath
  4. Then another 20 seconds at full throttle.
  5. Another couple of minutes gentle cycling
  6. Then a final 20 seconds going hell for leather. And that’s it.
  7. Total time 7 MINUTE CARDIO!!!

Now this is just a few of the many benefits from 7MinuteWorkout.

Hearing on the TV that protein makes you happier I searched the internet to find out more. (Since I increased my protein intake, I certainly am happier)

Protein has been a hot issue with Atkins-like diets and the Dukan diet though most people have no clue what proteins even are.

Proteins are simply chains of amino acids, nothing more mystical, I’m afraid. An amino acid is also called a peptide, when you string together some of them you call it a poly-peptide which is nothing but a protein… The interesting bit is what amino acids are in the chain of a protein.

What are small proteins (peptides) for?

Proteins and peptides can do all sorts of things, adrenaline for example is also a protein and I assume we all know what that does. Smaller proteins like peptides can do a whole range of things especially in the brain. A special type of peptides is called ‘neurotransmitters’, these regulate communication in the brain but also change your mood and mental state.

Feeling stressed and depressed has detrimental effects on our health, so we really want good substances in our brains. Serotonin for example makes you feel good and happy, while too little of this results in depression. Prozac is a well-known medication that acts by blocking serotonin reuptake–effectively increasing serotonin levels in the brain. Another ‘good’ neurotransmitter is dopamine, which is when the brain releases as a reward chemical. If only we could elevate the levels of these substances right…?

Eating yourself to a good mood

Serotonin and Dopamine are created out of two ‘raw’ amino acids called L-Tryptophan (for serotonin) and Tyrosine (for dopamine). As a bonus L-Tryptophan is also used to create melatonin, the substance that assured a good night’s sleep. So what foods contain L-Tryptophan? Well pretty much all protein rich foods do though eggs, seeds, fish and meats have the highest content.

If you want to improve your mood, try to incorporate these things into your daily diet:

  1. High protein foods – become a label reader
  2. Limit or restrict high sugar foods
  3. Drink lots of water!
  4. Sleep 8 hours a day or more

Good luck, and happy eating!

Hit My 7MW Goal

09 May
2012
by

Diary Entry January 31st

Jumping with joy this morning when the scales confirmed I have reached my target weight and am now ready to reveal my pictures!

When I started the 7 Minute Workout (7MW) I weighed 203 lbs. This exercise program allowed me to build on my commitment towards weight loss. Too many exercise programs had set me up for failure before I even got started, “just 30 mins 5 times a week” , “just 1 hr 3 times a week”. Too much commitment.

I like many others I found it impossible to keep to these targets so either quit or never got started. 7MW is just 7 minutes 3 times per week…easy, I can do that… you can do that!

Over time, with 7MW, my commitment and enthusiasm to exercise increased and after a few months I started to look into what I was eating. The signs were not good so I started to learn more about the right type and quantity of food I should be eating, and believe it or not I found I should be eating more! So more protein, less carbs & 7 minutes of exercise 3 times per week and the weight started to drop.

Now that I have achieved my goal, what next? Well I will continue to keep a check on my diet. I have a protein only day once a week and keep my carb intake low. Bread, rice or potatoes and ‘eat what I want days’ (like a night out) are all limited to twice per week. And of course, carry on with 7MW to further tone up and build strength.
Results: have lost 20lbs.
Belly: 40inches down to 36inches
Waist: 36inches to 32inches

Looking after your body can pay you back in many ways. Since starting the program back in March I have been exercising 3 times every week. Before 7minuteworkout (7MW)I NEVER stuck to any exercise program for longer than 2 week!

What I have noticed is incredible. For a start, I am no longer stressed about my weight as now I have a solution.
(being stressed releases excess cortisol into your body, this then increases abdominal fat & other problems, REF: http://www.cortisol.com/the_cortisol_stress_connection.php) so will slow down muscle growth and make you fatter! )

I now have a much more positive outlook on life; I know I am going to be fit, strong & healthy, I know I have the vehicle that will not only help me make money but more importantly, allow me to help others reach their goals and potential, I can mentor, help, & guide and that makes ME happy too.

In my day to day life 7 Minute Workout is helping me make more money at work. I’m a children’s entertainer at the weekends and with 7MW I have much more stamina and strength. This means I am now able to put a LOT more energy into the party. This makes the party more fun as I am able to run all over the place! More excitement means more happy kids. Happy kids makes happy parents and in turn we get more bookings.

Since starting this exercise program we have since an increase in bookings from recommendations.

For all you newbies to 7MW what benefits will you be writing & talking about in 3 months time?

In fact you could even paint a picture in your mind NOW! A picture of a fitter, healthier and wealthier YOU. (make that picture of the new you colourful, big & bright)

Thanks Joel for inviting me way back in March, you have put together an amazing program.
